Ryan is a young emerging musician and a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music. Based in the Manchester, Ryan plays all the saxophones flutes and clarinet, working in Jazz bands, Big Bands, Sax quartets, in the Studio and on Tour for Theatre productions and Soul bands.

Groups he performs regularly with include:

Sax Collective – saxophone quartet regularly appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as concerts and workshops across the UK.

Spitting Feathers – 12 piece big band playing pop, rock and soul.

Big Easy Swing Band – Swing band playing music from Rag-time to Swing. Based on a line-up similar to the Fletcher Henderson Orchestra of around 1935.

Boogie Express – High Energy party band also offering jazz trio.

Ryan is also regularly found in theatre pits playing shows from UK tours of Blood Brothers and Cabaret to One-off productions such as Little by Little and Future Faces Cabaret Shows. Other shows include Fame, Cabaret and A Chorus Line, and cabaret performances at various West-end theatres.

 

Ryan is in demand as a composer and arranger working regularly in the studio arranging horn section section parts, writing incidental music for film or larger arrangements for concert wind-band. Please visit the writing page to find out more.

 

He is also very much involved with teaching young people various musical skills from playing the saxophone, clarinet and flute to music theory, jazz and arranging. He is involved with a number of organisations across the North-west leading groups and organising workshops which give opportunity for young people to perform regularly and work with professional musicians. Ryan can often found behind a mixing desk, having trained as a sound engineer and previously worked as an assistant dubbing mixer and sound editor for Clarity Post Production Sound in London (Credits include Enduring Love and Oh Happy Day as well as numerous TV productions), Ryan is currently working as part of Headline Creative.
